History of the Cemetery

“The first four acres were purchases by the Township from Charles L. Ortulan and William Yawky on May 26th, 1874. Early burial was in the North and Center sections. A gate divides these sections. This gate was most likely the early entrance to the cemetery. The cemetery was then divided into the North, Center, South, and East sections. Two more acres on the Northside were purchased by the Township from Percy and Ethel Knight on June 29th, 1948. This is divided into the Northwest and Northeast sections and is divided by a road. Ten more acres were purchased on the Southside by the township from James and Laurel Knight on May 29th, 2011 for future use.”
